What an incredible day! On Saturday, 21st February, our community came together at Wintringham Primary Academy to celebrate the Lunar New Year, and we couldn’t be prouder of the turnout. With around 400 residents, friends, and neighbours joining us, the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing from start to finish.
As your Residents Association, our goal has always been to make Wintringham a welcoming and vibrant place, where neighbours can become friends. This event really showed that our community spirit is stronger than ever.
From the moment you arrived, we hoped to share a little bit of tradition with you through fortune cookies, mandarin oranges, and those iconic red envelopes (Hongbao) to bring us all luck and prosperity for the year ahead.
The absolute showstopper, of course, was the performance by the Cambridge Chinese Lion Dance Team – who were back for their second year. The energy of the drums and cymbals, followed by the Lion Dance and Tai Chi fan displays, was a spectacular way to gallop into the Year of the Fire Horse.
And of course, no celebration is complete without great food. The noodles and dumplings served out on the plaza were the perfect fuel for a chilly February afternoon.
We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Of course, this was the first of many events we are hosting this year, so stay tuned and get ready for an exciting year ahead.
