Congratulations to our winners, who somehow beat the heat and drought to grow impressive Russian Giant sunflowers in our corner of Cambridgeshire.
Antony Douthwaite grew the sunflower with the largest flower head at 27 cm diameter — around the size of a dinner plate. The tallest sunflower this year towered at 272 cm tall (almost 9 feet!), grown by Divya Unnikrishnan.
Antony, Divya and their families won trophies, a garden centre gift card and, of course, bragging rights. Check out our winning entries and the winners.
Don’t forget to join our gardening group, Wintringham in Bloom, for growing tips and chat. And stay tuned for next year’s competition!
